1 teacher 5 questions: Parv
The third edition of our new teacher snap quiz, features Parv, a primary school teacher in east London.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
Don’t take anything personally… unless it’s positive.
What do you wish you had known when you started teaching?
How to get marking done efficiently.
What’s the craziest or most outstanding thing that ever happened in your classroom?
One of the children throwing chairs and yelling because I asked him to join the rest of the class on the carpet.
Tell us one thing you would change about teaching, and why
The paperwork and planning. A lot of the time you feel like you are doing needless tasks instead of spending time focusing on your actual teaching. The planning can seem over the top and a lot of the admin like it is purely to tick the box.
What’s the best thing about being a teacher?
Teaching. Progress. Connections. Being the best at basketball because you are playing against 9 year olds.
Bonus question: describe your life as a teacher in 5 words.
Fun. Dynamic. Funny. Never-ending drama!
