The teacher social network’s innovation has been recognised by UK Fast Start competition win

8 June 2020, London UK

Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation, has named teaglo, the teacher social network, a winner of the Fast Start competition. The UK edtech startup has been awarded a grant of £48,000 to develop an innovative teacher resource hub. teaglo is one of only eight hundred businesses to receive funding as part of £40 million government investment to drive forward new technological advances and build UK resilience following the coronavirus outbreak.

teaglo will use the funding to build teaglo Resources, a cutting-edge, easily searchable hub of free classroom, wellbeing, and CPD resources, free for teachers to access 24/7 at teaglo.com. Teachers and partners will also be able to upload their own resources, videos and CPD materials and share them with other teachers on the platform.

Our research tells us that teachers want free, unlimited access to high-quality teacher resources and that need has been further highlighted during COVID-19, so we are delighted to have won this government grant, which will be crucial in helping us to deliver this vital tool to support teachers,

says Daryll Middleton, teaglo Founder & CEO.

We are excited to have already received 100s of quality resources from teaching experts and leading educational organisations like the Chartered College of Teaching and look forward to building many more strong relationships with educators and partners alike.

Innovate UK received a record number of 8600 applications to the Fast Start competition which aims to support the UK’s next generation of cutting-edge start-ups. Other successful projects to receive funding to date include a virtual-reality surgical training simulator and an online farmers’ market platform.

“The ideas we have seen can truly make a significant impact on society, improve the lives of individuals, especially those in vulnerable groups and enable businesses to prosper in challenging circumstances.” says Dr Ian Campbell Executive Chair at Innovate UK.
